According to Football Insider, Rangers are confident that they will not be losing Jermain Defoe early in January as his loan deal continues to prove prosperous.
It’s easy to forget that, technically, he is not our player and is only here, at the moment, on a temporary basis from Premier League side Bournemouth.
Indeed, he’s been so ingrained in what we’ve done since he arrived that he’s felt like one of our own, and after another goal-scoring spree at the weekend, it’s clear that we all want him to stay as long as possible.
Bournemouth have the option to recall him in the January window, according to the report, but Rangers’ position is that they are confident of keeping him for the full term of the loan.
After that, we’ll have to wait and see what happens next but it would certainly be nice if we could keep him for longer because he is still looking so sharp.
