Rangers plot sensational summer move for £13.5m-rated top-flight regular

|

Rangers are planning to make an audacious move for Watford forward Andre Gray in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to The Herald.

It’s not often the club are linked with English Premier League regulars, but it appears our ambitions ahead of next season are greater than many fans expected.

The paper say we are looking to land the 27-year-old on loan next season as a potential replacement for Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos.

Gray would ordinarily be a player outwith our reach, currently rated as worth £13.5m by Transfermarkt, but the report states that funds generated by Morelos’ sale could go towards the player’s Premier League wages.

The striker made his name back in 2015/16 season when his 23 goals and eight assists helped Burnley gain promotion to the English top-flight from the Championship.

Watford soon invested heavily in the player and he’s gone on to make 64 appearances for them. This season he’s played 31 times for the Hornets, scoring nine goals and assisting three times.

Clearly the striker is of a quality that would make him a hit in the Scottish Premiership and hopefully this is one transfer rumour that comes to fruition over the coming weeks and months.
