Rangers are planning to make a move for St Johnstone goalkeeper Zander Clark this summer, according to website Football Insider.

The outlet reckon that Steven Gerrard and his recruitment team are looking for shot-stoppers in the upcoming transfer window as a replacement for current goalkeeping deputies Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick, who are both expected to leave Ibrox at the end of the season.

They say that Rangers have been keeping tabs on the 26-year-old for a while now and will battle a number of English Championship clubs for his signature.

Clark has been a regular in the Scottish Premiership for three years now and certainly has the ability to play back-up to current number one Allan McGregor.

This season he’s been especially impressive, helping keep 18 clean sheets in all competitions for the Perth Saints.

With a current market value of £315,000, according to Transfermarkt, and just one season left on his current contract, he is unlikely to cost a huge amount of money either.

Solving a squad problem on a budget, his capture could be a decent bit of business.
