Rangers Player Set For Switch To Serie A

It was being reported yesterday that centre-half Bruno Alves was undergoing a medical out in Italy ahead of a proposed move to Serie A side Parma.

36-year-old Alves arrived at Ibrox last summer from Cagliari as a free agent, but he was limited to only 25 appearances across the campaign as he struggled with niggly injuries. It seems he certainly doesn’t feature in Steven Gerrard’s plans for the coming 2018/19 campaign and I’d be amazed if we got a fee for the man given his age – but as he arrived on a free he can depart on a free really.

Having been part of Portugal’s World Cup squad out in Russia, the fact they went out at the last 16 stage without him getting a game probably doesn’t aid us in securing a nominal fee for him. From a financial front though, getting him off the wage bill would be the advantage to us.

With Gerrard already adding Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson to the backline, Alves future with us was always subject to debate, but given we’ve had so many incomings so far this summer, hopefully, he can quickly add his name to the departure list so we don’t end up overloaded with players that won’t feature.
