Rangers have been linked with some impressive managers over the last few weeks but none have quite the CV, in terms of names, as the latest to emerge as a potential option.

Any decent gaffer who is out of contract will obviously be considered but one that has been in charge at Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Ajax and Lyon will probably be pretty near the top.

Peter Bosz might be a name that is familiar to Rangers fans having been in charge when we faced Lyon recently in the Europa League and Leverkusen when we first made the knockout stages under Steven Gerrard. Both times we face teams who were well organised and played attractive football.

The Daily Express has reported that the 59-year old Dutchman is being considered to replace his countryman and that he is a strong contender:

“Rangers may look to former Lyon boss Peter Bosz as their next manager after it was announced Gio Van Bronckhorst had been sacked at Ibrox.

“And Scottish Express Sport understands one name strongly in the running is Van Bronckhorst’s fellow countryman Bosz who is high on the Ibrox priority list for the vacant job after being sacked by the Ligue 1 outfit in October.”

Bosz would be a good fit in terms of style of play and he prefers a variation of the 4-2-3-1 that we have used so many times in recent seasons so it wouldn’t take players long to adapt, only minor adjustments would be needed over the next few weeks were he to take charge.

My only concern would be that, despite being at some big and well-resourced clubs, he doesn’t have a great track record of success, with just one Dutch second-division title to his name.

I’d imagine Bosz won’t be the last name that we see linked to the top job today but, at least, he’s better than Derek McInnes…
