Rangers goalkeeper is hoping to see his current loan deal at Scunthorpe United extended after playing regular first-team football for the League One outfit this season.

Alnwick signed on loan at Glanford Park in the final stages of the summer transfer window until January. However, it seems he’s not took keen on returning to a bit-part role as Allan McGregor’s understudy at Ibrox.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said of his future:

“I’ve had conversations with my agent and said I love it down here and want to keep playing. I’m not sure what they’re wanting to do, but from my personal point of view I want to keep playing games and there couldn’t be a better club for me to be at.

I would love to stay but it is dependent on the club here if they want to keep me and it would depend if Rangers if they want to keep me out on loan.

If everything comes together, then hopefully I can stay.”

Not only does it sound like he wants to extend his loan, the strength of his comments suggest he would perhaps even enjoy a permanent move away from Glasgow, having failed to make the number one spot his own at the club.

Alnwick’s Gers contract doesn’t expire until 2020, so any move away would require a fee, potentially putting off suitors.

His Rangers career nonetheless looks to be coming to an end.
