Michael Beale will need to address our issues in midfield if he wants to even entertain the thought of playing the type of exciting football that he has promised fans.

There were names linked in the summer but nothing came to fruition, however, Rangers have now been linked with a Premier League midfielder who is finding game time hard to come by.

A report in Football Insider has claimed that Josh Onomah is a winter window target and that he wouldn’t break the bank:

”New Rangers boss Michael Beale is plotting a January move for Fulham midfielder Josh Onomah, sources have told Football Insider.

“Beale is a long-term admirer of Onomah, 25, and considered signing him during the summer when he was in charge of Queens Park Rangers.”

Onomah has good experience in the Championship in England and has a decent CV having come through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and with loan spells at Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday also to his name.

The 25-year old has enjoyed success with England at youth level winning the Under-17 World Cup and being capped by the Under-21s in what has been a talented generation of midfielders, there is definitely a player there.

Rangers midfield was badly exposed as being short of creativity when Tom Lawrence and Alex Lowry joined Ianis Hagi on the treatment table and 6ft 1inch tall Onomoah would add another dimension to the engine room, bringing the much needed fresh legs that we have been crying out for all season.

Fulham do have an option to extend his contract but with just two appearances in the Premier League this season they shouldn’t be hard to deal with but, if the Rangers board are serious about backing Beale, it must begin in January.
