Midfielder Steven Davis is on the verge of signing a contract at Rangers, according to The Scottish Sun.
The veteran Northern Ireland international has spent the last few months on loan from Southampton, but with his contract at the English club expiring at the end of the season, the door is open for him to sign wherever he likes.
Davis initially struggled to get games in Steven Gerrard’s side but in recent weeks has proven to be a very effective midfield weapon.
Rangers have subsequently moved quickly to open talks with the player, according to the paper, with agreement said to be very close indeed.
It comes after the club announced the signing of attacking prospect Jake Hastie earlier this week.
Director of Football Mark Allen and Gerrard are clearly intent on getting some early business done ahead of European qualifiers in the summer, allowing us to focus on less obvious targets as the transfer window develops.
Davis’ experience and trophy winning pedigree at Rangers could prove vital next season as we attempt to compete for major honours once again.
