Rangers on the brink of landing £540,000-rated summer bargain

|

Rangers look set to agree a deal with on-loan Aberdeen attacker Greg Stewart, according to The Daily Record.

The paper say that the recruitment team at Ibrox have held talks with the soon to be out of contract Birmingham City attacker over the last 24 hours.

The club have turned their attention to the 29-year-old after giving up on signing Motherwell youngster Jake Hastie, growing frustrated with his stalling on signing a deal at the Gers, the report states.

£540,000-rated Stewart (Transfermarkt) was one of the stand-out players in the Scottish Premiership prior to January, scoring eight goals and assisting five times in Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock side.

Aberdeen, keen on capitalising on that form, brought him to Pittodrie on loan in the transfer window but have wasted his talents.

With the ability to play on the flank or through the middle, he could be the creative spark we’ve been missing in the team of late and really add to Steven Gerrard’s options in the final third.

On a free transfer, the move is relatively risk free and if we can get him playing like he was at Rugby Park then we’ll be on to a winner.
