The transfer rumours are coming thick and fast now with a host of strikers being linked with moves to Ibrox, which is strange when you consider that we are well stocked in forward areas.

A recent statistic saw us named as top goalscorers in Europe with the addition of Fashion Sakala likely to see even less game time for a possibly departing Jermain Defoe.

However, it might not be as simple as that.

The recent 4-1 win over Celtic saw a subtle bot noticeable change to our usual 4-3-3 formation with Ryan Kent playing deeper and more central behind an almost orthodox striker pairing of Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe.

Both Cedric Itten and Fashion Sakala (who scored again at the weekend) have experience of being deployed in a partnership and it may be that we are looking at potential targets who can lead the line in case we receive our valuation of Alfredo Morelos – we already have Kent, Scott Wright and Ianis Hagi who can operate in the “number 10” position.

The Colombian international has been reported as being keen to stick around for the Champions League, something that would only benefit both parties, regardless of whether or not he is as prolific in that as he has been in the Europa League, but it might not be as simple as that.

We are a selling club now, however, it isn’t as simple as choosing who and when we want to sell certain players but at least, with Ross Wilson on board, you can trust our recruitment team to already have potential replacements lined up – if they are needed.
