Now, we all know that Parkhead is far from the centre of honesty and integrity, however, their latest release has been nothing short of re-writing history.

Both sides of the Old Firm have released statements urging fans to stay at home this weekend for the third derby of the season but in a less-than-subtle dig at Rangers, Celtic captain Scott Brown put down the Lego and managed to get his best crayons out to write his own message, as reported by The Glasgow Times:

“We know it has been so difficult for our fans not being part of matches, but they have done brilliantly throughout the pandemic. Our supporters have been great in sticking to the guidelines, even after we have won the league and another treble, so we just need more of the same.

“Our priority will always be the safety of our fans and that is all we want to ensure, so our message once again is enjoy our matches from home and keep you and your family safe.

“All the players can’t wait to have our fans back with us, but for now we send our sincere thanks and appreciation for helping us to meet this challenge and also for the great support we have had all season.”

Ok then, Scott. So, it wasn’t Celtic fans that threw metal barriers at the police or bricks at the team bus? Or Celtic fans that protested on at least three occasions – I lost count – and gathered at Hampden and Parkhead to celebrate last season’s Scottish Cup that was played this season?

In what year did Allan McGregor make his Rangers debut?

On the pitch Brown has become a laughing stock, and it looks as though he is hell bent on becoming one off it too, judging by this statement, that was issued without even the slightest hint of irony.

To top it all off, he thanks his fans for the “great support” that they have had this season, good one Scott, I’ll tell the jokes.
