Despite getting everything they’ve asked for over the last six months and breaching Covid-19 regulations already, Celtic are “in dialogue” with the Scottish Government following Ryan Christie’s isolation.

The Glasgow Evening Times reported their statement which implies that they are seeking preferential treatment for one of their key players, even though the procedure for self isolation will be well known to them following the Boli Bolingoli scandal, after hearing that Christie will now be unavailable for the first Old Firm game of the season they have well and truly thrown their toys out the pram:

“In light of this, Celtic confirmed today that it aims to open dialogue with the Scottish Government and other authorities to fully understand the self-isolation procedures for those players who continue to deliver negative test results, as Ryan has.”

It really isn’t complicated, Christie has been in close contact with Stuart Armstrong, who has tested positive, it doesn’t matter how many negative tests the Celtic player provides, he now has to self isolate for 14 days – following the same guidelines as every other person since the pandemic broke out.

On top of this, Christie released his own statement which does nothing other than show that Celtic haven’t been educating their players very well – the Bolingoli fiasco another example of this – claiming that he has “done nothing wrong” – again, not the point.

Are Celtic setting a bad example?

Yes

Yes

No

No

It was ok for Neil Lennon when St Mirren had all of their goalkeepers missing, saying that fixtures had to go ahead regardless of how many players were missing, what’s that saying about being able to dish it out, but not being able to take it – as always in Scottish football, it appears to be one rule for them and an entirely different one for everyone else, if they get their way.
