When you win 5-0 against the team sitting just below you in the table, the chances are that it has been a decent performance with more than a few highlights.

For Rangers, John Lundstram’s renaissance in the middle of the park was exemplified by a 70-yard driving run at the Hearts defence showing exactly the qualities that saw Steven Gerrard bring him to the club in the first place, and it wasn’t the only time in the game that he did something like this.

However, this wasn’t the only moment that caught the attentions of Rangers fans. Alfredo Morelos going full “El Bufalo” by offering the entire Hearts support a square go…

Morelos was at his rampaging best against Hearts – a match rating of 9.5/10 on Sofascore – it always amazes me how a player who isn’t blessed with pace manages to manipulate genuine 1 v 1 opportunities, on more than one occasion he simply bodied defenders out of the way rather than trying to outrun them – you’ve got to play to your strengths after all.

The only surprise was that Willie Collum didn’t book him, with Rangers 1-0 up he applied the common law of booking anyone in Light Blue who made contact with an opponent, even if they got the ball first and with a fair tackle, with Cammy Devlin and Beni Banigime allowed their usual four or five each for Hearts – exactly the sort of officiating that saw Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans suffer injuries that altered their career paths, before we even think about VAR in Scotland we need to join the 21st century and protect players better.

It looked like a more aggressive starting XI which had been expected after the powderpuff way we surrendered at Parkhead and so it panned out, we won the battle which gave us the platform to play our finest football of the season, more of the same on Wednesday would be greatly appreciated.
