When Rangers won their 55th title Steven Gerrard confirmed why we appointed him as manager by announcing that it was only the beginning for his side.

His trusty sidekick, Michael Beale – speaking on Rangers TV – has reiterated this stance and, with the Champions League qualifiers sure to be a key target in the summer, he has hinted that we could see an upgrade of personnel to cope with the increase in standard of team we could face.

“We are evolving and adapting. The good news for us is that the Rangers you see today is only just the start. Winning the league was just the start. It wasn’t the end point it was just the start of us going on a dominant run.

“That’s what the staff are committed at and thats what we are challenging and provoking the players to push on to.

“And thats what we will be looking at when we go to add to the squad in the summer which I’m sure we will to take us to the next level. To reiterate, it’s just the start.”

The current squad is full of internationals and the last couple of seasons has seen the quality of players available on a weekly basis improve immensely, Jon McLaughlin as back-up for Allan McGregor, Leon Balogun for Filip Helander and the additions of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten have been pivotal in getting over the line in the title race.
