Chris McKee is set to leave Rangers to sign for Linfield in a bid to push on and progress in his career.

Having spent the last half of the season at Windsor Park and making a decent contribution toward the Blues NI Premiership success, it could be a case of one step back, to go two forward for the 20-year old.

After five goals in 10 appearances for David Healy’s team, McKee has shown that he has what it takes for the demands at Linfield, in his first proper impact in senior first team football.

Jake Hastie was also on loan with the 56-times champions but he did not shine at all, despite his game time. Conversely, McKee grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Back in January when the loan was agreed, McKee stated:

“I can’t wait to get started and I want to make a contribution over the coming months to help the club be successful.”

“I am well aware of the demands and expectations at this club and all I want to do is challenge for a place within what is certainly a very strong squad.”

Momentum

He achieved the above and more, as exemplified with this return back to Linfield where he came through the youth ranks.

A familiar place to kick on, to grow and to improve further is no bad thing for the Northern Ireland youth international who previously spent time on loan at Brechin City.

Professional football in Scotland or England in the future is far from out of the question for Chris McKee – now is the time to work even harder, to evolve and to keep the goals coming. Do that and he won’t be too far away.
