With Cedric Itten away to Young Boys, we will need to add reinforcements to the forward line, Fashion Sakala has shown that he can add numbers but his best work appears to be when he is deployed in a wider position which leaves just Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe.

Morelos has a year left on his contract and Roofe, who started just 27% of our league games last season, won’t be around forever but it is too early to throw Tony Weston or Robbie Ure into a back-up role, because of this, there will be at least one new face in our attack next season.

One early name being mentioned is Mateo Cassierra at Sochi, Vital Rangers already reporting on the figure that the Russians are demanding, however, despite the price tag, the Colombian striker has hinted at an early move. as reported by The Daily Record:

“I hope within the next week or so, my future will be confirmed and I will sign for a club who are good for me.

“My priority is to stay in Europe because I have been here for five years now.

“The manager of Rangers knows me because when I was at Ajax, he was the manager of Feyenoord.

“So there are options for me that need to be evaluated.”

With 14 goals and six assists in 26 games, Cassierra has had a productive season, whether or not this justifies an £8.5million price tag for a player who only cost £1m a season ago.

As we have seen already with Connor Goldson extending his contract, it could well be a summer of surprises, maybe Cassierra will be the next.
