Several reports have stated that Rangers are about to clinch a deal for Manchester United U23 midfielder Charlie McCann.

Daily Record, The Scottish Sun and The Athletic have all gone live on this emerging story this morning.

Charlie McCann is a 19-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international who moved to Old Trafford from hometown side, Coventry City where he had been a youth player since the age of seven.

This move could have been hastened by the issue with Nnamdi Ofoborh after ECG tests discovered a heart irregularity with the former Bournemouth man – he will be given time to make sure that his health is right, first and foremost.

As for McCann, he appears to be a talented player caught in that tricky gap between Premier League U23 football and the first team.

At present, he is not considered to be part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.

The Manchester Evening News have mentioned a fee as part of the deal:

Manchester United midfielder Charlie McCann is set to sign for Rangers.

McCann, 19, is expected to join the Scottish champions for a fee rising to £750,000 and will initially play in the Rangers B team.

Rangers believe the Republic of Ireland youth international could be ready to join the first-team squad in a year’s time.
