First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s update today did very little to increase optimism of a full capacity crowd returning to Ibrox very soon.

Limits will still be in place for outdoor crowds over 5000, with permission to be granted for excess numbers.

Rangers have already successfully held four large scale events to date, with restrictions and covid precautions in place and with that in mind here is what the club should be suggesting to the authorities as well as making intentions clear to supporters:

Clearly state that a request has been made for a full capacity for next Tuesday’s home game against Malmo, in order to keep up momentum and to put the ball in the court of Glasgow City Council and the associated bodies.

Such a bold but unambiguous communication would also show the supporters exactly where the club stands.

This would be in line with recent communication from Ibrox, in which there was an expectation that restictions would be removed as of 9th August.

It is very disappointing but not surprising that this isn’t the case, despite Scotland now”moving beyond level zero” next week – it just doesn’t add up.

Social distancing is set to be dropped in most cases, but the requirement to wear face masks will remain, in certain public areas.

Confusion reigns with logic sorely lacking!
