Rangers make their move for 29-year-old – two clubs potentially beaten to signature

|

Rangers have made their move and tabled a contract offer for attacker Greg Stewart, in an attempt to beat Derby County and Aberdeen to his signature, according to website Football Insider.

The outlet say that Steven Gerrard and his recruitment team at Ibrox are actively working on the deal to secure his pre-contract signing, with his current spell at Birmingham City due to come to an end.

The early move comes with both the Rams and the Dons in the mix to sign him on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Stewart was in lethal form on loan at Kilmarnock in the first half of the season, scoring eight goals and assisting seven more before making the switch to Aberdeen in the January transfer window.

He’s struggled a little in Derek McInnes’ side but could prove to be an exciting creative option at Ibrox next year.

Fans will have a good chance to see him in action in a big match tomorrow, with the player expected to feature in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic at Hampden.
