Rangers midfielder Jason Holt has started winning over Fleetwood Town’s faithful after he helped them to victory in midweek in the EFL Cup against Crewe Alexandra.

With the 25-year-old heading out over the summer to join up with former teammate Joey Barton as he takes his first steps in management, Holt made his debut for the club in their victory in League One over Oxford United and he got another substitute run out on Tuesday evening.

Fleetwood were losing when he came off the bench at halftime and six minutes into the restart he scored a screamer to put them back on level terms, and ultimately they took a penalty shoot-out victory to book their place in the next round of the competition.

Holt’s efforts certainly didn’t go unnoticed on social media and he came in for a fair bit of praise, especially as he played a second part in their win and stepped up to score his penalty when called upon.

A number of hoping he has a good spell and comes back to the club in good confidence to take a second shot at working his way into Gerrard’s plans for next season and if he carries on like that, he’ll do his chances no harm at all.
