Rangers have this evening confirmed the arrival of former Hibernian striker Jason Cummings on a loan spell from Nottingham Forest.

The 22 year old made the move to the English Championship side over the summer having come through the Easter Road outfit’s youth setup and with him having his breakthrough year in the 2013/14 season, it was the following year he began really making a name for himself, scoring 21 times in the Scottish Championship before adding 25 and 23 in subsequent seasons as Hibs made their way back into the top flight.

His goalscoring record attracted the attention of former Rangers gaffer Mark Warburton and he moved quickly to tie up the man who has scored eight times against Rangers in recent seasons.

Whilst at the City Ground he has scored four times in 18 matches but fell out of favour with Warburton in his final days at the club and having held discussions with new Forest manager Aitor Karanka he heads to us for the remainder of the season, with Rangers having an option to buy him permanently come the summer.

Speaking to the Official Site after putting pen to paper on the deal, Cummings explained.

‘I`m absolutely delighted to come to such a massive club. Once I knew they were interested, there was no question in my mind that I wanted to sign for them. My situation down south meant that I wasn`t going to play as much, so I was just wanting to get out there, get game time and get back to enjoying football again. I can`t wait to get started now. I asked my agent to try and sort something out, and when I heard Rangers were interested it was just something I couldn`t decline. I have always enjoyed playing against Rangers, and hopefully I can enjoy playing on the other side this time.’

Cummings had been a hot topic for transfer speculation in recent times, and knowing his future could be with us permanently is something that excites him as well.

‘Definitely. It`s such a massive club and it`s a privilege to be here. I am going to enjoy this six months and I can`t wait to get out there at Ibrox and wear the blue.’
