According to the Daily Record, Steven Gerrard is looking to use his contacts book again and bring in Martin Skrtel to the club this summer.

This is a rumour that we have seen come about a few times already since Gerrard arrived at the club last summer.

Indeed, we have seen him sign a few players by using his contacts with the likes of Ryan Kent joining last year and Sheyi Ojo this.

Skrtel could be the next, then, with the veteran defender possessing plenty of experience from his time with the likes of Liverpool and in Turkey.

Of course, we need a new central defender with Joe Worrall among those to leave the club this summer and Skrtel might be a decent option.

He’s not a great ball player, but he is certainly brave and isn’t going to shy away from getting stuck in where it hurts.

Perhaps he’ll be a hit, then, but first we’ll have to actually sign him.

  • I think dud is a bit harsh. He’s got over 100 international caps and played for Liverpool for 8 years. Can’t be that bad to have achieved that.
I’m not saying I want him here but I think he would add a bit of needed experience
