If Rangers emerge with at least a share of the points from today’s Old Firm encounter, it will mark another feat for Steven Gerrard.

An unbeaten Old Firm season in the Premiership.

The last time a Rangers team recorded the same achievement was back in 1999/2000 under the little general, Dick Advocaat.

Think Mols, Numan, Van Bronckhorst, Amoruso, Albertz and Ferguson in their pomp.

That is another incentive on the line today – Meaningless game, don’t think so!

Added to the 100 points chase, an ‘invincible’ league season and a much needed response to last week’s Scottish Cup disappointment, there is more than enough at stake.

So back in 99/00, here is how Rangers dominated the other half of the Old Firm:

7/11/99 – Rangers 4 Celtic 2 – Johansson, Albertz (pen), Amoruso, Amato

27/12/99 – Celtic 1 Rangers 1 – Dodds

8/3/00 – Celtic 0 Rangers 1 – Wallace

26/3/00 – Rangers 4 Celtic 0 – Albertz (2), Kanchelskis, Van Bronckhorst

With plenty having been said about Gerrard’s Champions over the last couple of weeks, today presents another opportunity to make a statement and claim another small historical feat in the process.
