After reports this week – covered by Vital Rangers – that both sides of the Old Firm divide are keeping tabs on Kevin Nisbet, there is a discussion as to who needs him most and where would he have most impact.

Rangers have been linked with the Scotland international when he was at both Raith Rovers and Dunfermline, long before any rumours of Celtic being interested in the 24-year old, however, now that he has proven himself in the Premiership, doubts about his ability to adapt as he moved up a level have long since evaporated.

Hibernian rejected a bid of over £3million in January which gives an idea of how much it would take to secure his services, when you consider that we didn’t pay that for Cedric Itten or Kemar Roofe and that Alfredo Morelos cost just £1m, it rightly, raises a few eyebrows.

But, if we disregard fees, who would he be better joining?

At Celtic he would be – probably – replacing Odsonne Edouard and Mohamed Elyounnousi, their best two attacking players, I’m just not convinced that Nisbet is capable of replacing players who can do both roles in terms of creating and scoring goals.

How many players do Rangers have at the Euros this summer?

At Rangers it would be different, he would be coming into a team where he wouldn’t be expected to carry the weight of expectation of the whole attack, instead, joining a forward line that already had plenty of creativity and goals in it, he would – for example – thrive with Roofe and Ryan Kent either side of him.

However, at upwards of £4m he simply isn’t worth it for Rangers, we signed Fashion Sakala on a free transfer and he is capable of playing centrally, wide, or behind a traditional number nine, flexibility Nisbet doesn’t have.

It says it all that for us he would be a decent option, but at Celtic, they are hoping he is going to be their saviour.
