There are some transfer rumours that seem to pop up every window and one has resurfaced featuring a Rangers player who was once the subject of a failed £10million bid.

Steven Gerrard “strongly rejected” an offer for Ryan Kent from Leeds United when he was Rangers manager, the club that we fought off to sign the winger on a permanent deal in 2019, however, now that he is out of contract in the summer, we might find it a harder task to match their offer.

Fraser Fletcher, transfer correspondent for Football Insider, has claimed that Leeds are set to return for the 26-year old:

“Leeds United have registered their interest in Rangers star Ryan Kent ahead of the summer.

“The winger, 26, is free to discuss pre-contract deals with his Ibrox agreement expiring in the summer and his future is up in the air.

“It is believed that Leeds have been in contact with Kent’s camp to discuss their interest in a player who has long been on their radar.”

Leeds currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, just one point off the bottom, and you would like to think that much of Kent’s decision will depend on where they are playing next season. Similar to the interest from Burnley, although their wage bill suggests that they might not be the same level of competition in terms of finances.

Losing Kent on a free would be a blow, however, with just six goals in the last two seasons – despite being unplayable on his day – is it unreasonable to suggest that, if we were to leave, that we could find someone more productive in front of goal?

Michael Beale has claimed that nothing has either been accepted of rejected yet and that he continues to talk to the players, similar to Connor Goldson, you get the impression that nothing will be decided until the end of the season and rumours like this one will continue to persist.
