Rangers face another injury sweat and now have three key players who will be out for, as yet, unknown lengths of time, but there is a temporary solution to the latest problem caused by Kemar Roofe’s setback.

Just as the £4million rated forward was hitting his stride in a Light Blues shirt he had to be withdrawn at half-time in the 1-0 win over Celtic at the weekend, as reported Steven Gerrard on Rangers TV:

“It was on our mind in terms of myself and the coaching staff to make a change because we weren’t happy with the front three in the first 45 minutes.

“It was a stroke of luck really – not in terms of the injury as Kemar has a niggle in his quad which we will have to assess and hope he is back fit.”

Thankfully, we are now into a more relaxed fixture calendar where we will be playing just one game a week for the next few weeks so Roofe, Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack, hopefully won’t miss as many games as was first feared.

Is Kennedy ready to step into the first-team?

There is, however, a solution should Roofe – with 10 goals and two Premiership assists – have more than just a niggle with Kai Kennedy returning to Auchenhowie following his six-month loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, the 18-year old has been impressing of late and should be given the chance to show what he can do in the first-team – there is, of course, the small matter of a new contract to sort out as a priority though.
