We used to worry about how we would cope without Alfredo Morelos, now, having had to play the last few weeks without Kemar Roofe as well, it’s safe to say that we have finally found a way, however, this doesn’t meant that Giovanni van Bronckhorst would rather have our best finisher available to him ahead of one of the biggest weeks in many of our lives supporting Rangers.

After the 4-1 win over Ross County, the manager revealed that it is a “close call” for the Jamaican international and that fellow injury absentee Ryan Jack is ahead of him in his recovery.

Speaking to talkSPORT this morning, Gio reiterated that the forward will be given every opportunity to make the Europa League final in a game where making the most of the chances we have could be the difference:

“Hopefully, he’ll be ready. He’s had an injury for so many weeks. We will assess him before the final and he’s had three weeks to get back. It’s a European final so we hope to have our strongest team available.”

The good thing is he hasn’t be ruled out, it was frustrating when he got injured because it looked as though we had found a system that got the best out of him and he had hit a decent run of form, even if he isn’t fully fit, I’d expect him to start.

The absence of Roofe and Morelos has only made making the Europa League final an even more incredible achievement, when you add in Ianis Hagi, Filip Helander and Aaron Ramsey not playing a minute in the semi-final either you really get an appreciation of how tactically astute  Van Bronckhorst must be – hopefully, Roofe recovers and makes the manager’s job that little bit easier for one final push to glory.
