Rangers have taken decisive action in disciplining both Jordan Jones and George Edmundson after the pair were alleged to have attended a private party after the 1-0 win over Kilmarnock at the weekend, as reported by Sky Sports.

The club released a statement detailing their actions and both players have been suspended and will now self isolate for 14 days as as a precaution so that the risk to other players is negated, it is clear that neither player will be popular when the return to training, if they are allowed that privilege following the remarks by Stewart Robertson:

“The Chairman Douglas Park, Ross Wilson, Steven Gerrard and I discussed this matter as soon as it was brought to our attention.

“We are completely aligned in our action and the standards that are being set at Rangers.

“We will not tolerate behaviour that does not follow those standards and it is totally unacceptable for any of our players to be involved in anything that puts at risk the excellent protocols that have been put in place at Rangers.”

The biggest issue facing the club is what action to take, Jones’s Rangers career has not been plain sailing with Steven Gerrard questioning his mentality and attitude on more than one occasion but this doesn’t mean that he should be sacked if he has had no previous formal disciplinary action on his record.

Should both players be sacked?

Edmundson is currently a distant third choice in the centre-half department but given the stage he is at in his career, he should be working harder to force his way back into the team, not making it easier for him to be left out.

Hopefully the club will punish both players accordingly if they are found guilty of any wrong doing, unlike those across the city that merely sent their player out on loan – saving them wages in the process.
