What better a way to find out about what makes a new signing tick and what they will bring to the team than by listening to a team-mate wax lyrical about them.

Even better when the team-mate in question is a known bluenose and former Ranger – Andy Halliday.

Speaking about John Souttar’s move from Hearts, Halliday – speaking on Clyde Superscoreboard – gave Rangers fans something to look forward to, for whenever the Scotland international might arrive:

”Aggressive, strong, really quick. Which was probably the biggest thing that surprised me with playing with him and more than comfortable with the ball at his feet.”

Most of us will have seen Souttar play for his club or the national team and will know that he is good in possession, having strength and aggression as a central defender is also useful, especially for a team that demands they have a large area to cover and are often left man-for-man.

From which country does Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist come from?

Some observers don’t seem to think that Souttar will be a regular starter and yet he has all the tools required to be a top centre-half, he might be 25-years old but in reality he has missed a lot of football and has shown the sort of form this season that made him a target in the first place.

Halliday was obviously not going to say that Souttar wasn’t good enough seeing as he still shares a dressing room with him but it’s encouraging to hear such specific praise and qualities that are essential to be a success for Rangers.
