We know, and very few Rangers fans are blind to the fact that, regardless of success both domestically and on the continent, player sales will be part of our business model as we move forwards as a club.

However, as confirmed by vice chairman John Bennett, players will categorically not be sold so that those who have dug deepest over the last few years can have their money repaid to them, instead continuing with the current programme of converting loans to shares, as told to Kieran Maguire and the Price of Football podcast.

When asked if it was ever a possibility, he said:

“Yeah, I think, the context of this, the short answer is no, utterly not.

“Our whole model, our whole planning, no. No player sales to repay our loan, including mine.

“Absolutely not, not part of the plan, not going to happen.

“That plan those loans, must be seen, and this for me is such an important thing, it’s something I thought long and hard about.”

I’ll take that as a no then.

Without the likes of Dave King and the men he brought on board, who knows where we would be today and the club has rarely been in better health when you consider the commercial deals, merchandise contract, off-field projects like Edmiston House, stadium renovation and the quality of the playing squad and management team.

Who finished as Rangers top goal scorer this season?

It’s a great time to be a Rangers fan, being able to invest in the club as well as the prospect of Champions League football and a return of fans to stadia with the Championship flag flying proudly above Ibrox, as sure a sign as any that we are on the right tracks.
