James Tavernier has been flying this season, leading the way with both goals and assists in the Scottish Premiership, and it is no doubt the sort of form likely to attract suitors from across the continent.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Premier League and England keeper, Paul Robinson, believes that his incredible form is only to make it harder to keep a hold of him:

“Tavernier’s form will be attracting the attention of club’s across Europe.

“It is an incredible return for a right-back. The goal return alone is absolutely incredible for a defender let alone with the assists.

“He is an integral part of a Rangers team that is flying at the moment.

“Steven Gerrard has done a brilliant job in Scotland since he has been there. He has turned the fortunes of the club and some of the players around.”

The skipper has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, and as the textbook example of the modern full-back, capable of defending in one moment and joining the attack in the next, his 27 goal involvements are simply ridiculous, even if you take away his penalties he is still pushing 20 for the season.

Who scored Rangers first competitive goal of the season?

The myth that he isn’t a good defender has also been put to bed a long time ago, gone are the occasional lapses in concentration that used to blight his game, as the first name on the team sheet, there can’t be many dissenting voices left in the Rangers support when it comes to Gerrard’s right-hand man.
