Vital Rangers revealed what most of us already knew in that the club is actively looking to recruit in midfield with both a defensive and box-to-box type of player on the shopping list.

We’ve seen numerous names already and Football Insider has added to this with an exclusive revealing that Croatian Under-21 captain Ivan Lepinjica is on Ross Wilson’s radar.

The report claims that we have had him assessed throughout the season and that he is obviously a player of some quality:

“Rangers are in the hunt to sign Croatian sensation Ivan Lepinjica.

“The Rijeka central midfielder, 21, is a hugely regarded talent in his homeland and is the captain of Croatia Under-21s.

“Lepinjica, who is a 6ft 3in defensive midfielder, would have been expected to have made the Croatia squad had he not missed a big chunk of the 2020-21 campaign due to injury.”

Getting into the senior Croatia squad – particularly in midfield – is no mean feat, however, there is a bit of confusion. As Football Insider explains, Lepinjica has started just four league games this season, not exactly ideal when you are looking to add players who can cover and provide support to players who have experienced injury problems of their own, but, according to Transfermarket, he has been on the bench most weeks that he hasn’t started and has had an injury free season.

Who finished as Rangers top goal scorer this season?

Playing for Rijeka means that his next move is big one because, if he continues his current rate of progress and stays injury free, he could be heading to the very top in the not too distant future, getting in their first could see a lot of money being made
