Rangers are genuinely cursed when it comes to injuries this season, no sooner had Nico Raskin started to get himself up to full fitness and looking like he had been with us for years then Michael Beale reveals that he has picked up a “minor” injury.

As part of the pre-match build up to the Motherwell game, the Gers gaffer seemed optimistic that the Belgian Under-21 international would be available, as reporteed by Football Scotland:

“Nico has a slight issue, he missed training (on Thursday).

“He had a bit of an issue with his quad after the game the other day, but we don’t think it is anything major.

“It is touch and go. We’ll see and if there is any risk it will be a no, but at the moment it is quite promising that he will be OK.”

After flying home, the January signing has now given an update via his Instagram page that will raise an eyebrow or two with Raskin now set to return to Glasgow for treatment, as reported by The Glasgow Times:

“Unfortunately I will not be playing for Belgium U-21 in the upcoming two matches due to a small injury. I’ll be back soon!”

Hopefully, his national side are letting him concentrate on his recovery rather than risking him when he isn’t 100% and that the injury isn’t worse than first feared, after all Beale clearly thought that he might have him available at the weekend.

If we are to finish the season on a high, we will need all our best players and Raskin has shown that he is already one of the first names in our new look midfield, the last thing Beale will want is to have to make do without him as he attempts to modernise our game plan.
