Rangers “in talks” to land 24-cap international with price tag revealed by club

|

Rangers efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of one of the biggest seasons in their history appear to be gathering pace with the news that they have entered talks with Amiens over the signing of their midfielder, Bongani Zungu, according to Glasgow Live.

Zungu has been mentioned as a possible target already and the 24-cap South African international would command a fee in the region of £3.5-4.5million, not exactly loose change in the current climate.

Rangers will have a few extra pounds in the bank after season ticket sales soared passed the 40,000 mark before even approaching the huge waiting list as well as the 20,000 MyGers memberships that have been taken out.

Steven Gerrard has been open about where he feels the club will now turn their attentions with players who will immediately strengthen the first XI a priority if he is to have any hope of returning the Scottish Premiership to the Ibrox trophy room for the first time since 2011.

Where does Rangers "target" Lyndon Dykes current play his football?

There has been little speculation about possible exits from Rangers with Jake Hastie and – as always – Alfredo Morelos, the only two to have been rumoured to be attracting attention from clubs looking to secure their signature.

Morelos is said to have turned down an offer from Qatar but with interest from France and now the Premier League in the shape of Everton, Gerrard might find it harder than he expected to have his talisman lining up when football kicks off again in Scotland in August – whether or not Zungu will in the famous Light Blue shirt is another matter.
