In what is a saga likely to rumble on for quite some time, the fallout from Rangers going into administration in 2012 and subsequent liquidation has taken another turn with the administrator’s  – David Whitehouse and Paul Clark – calling up Charles Green as a witness in a court case brought by BDO – the liquidator’s in an argument over the sale of assets, as reported by The Daily Record.

Vital Rangers reported previously on how BDO believe that more should have been done by the administrators to release cash to be paid to creditors in the shape of player sales, the selling of the training centre and more importantly – Ibrox.

This claim is being disputed by the administrators and as a result have attempted to get Green to provide evidence on their behalf as the former Chairman, as revealed by their QC in court this week:

“The position with him is that again I don’t have a written statement from him; he has spoken to those who have instructed me and he has given his views on a number of issues – these views have been drafted into a precognition and sent to him to see if they are accurately reflect the discussions and we have asked whether he would then be willing to sign a witness statement and give evidence.

“We are still waiting on a response from Mr Green.”

So, as things stand, Green has provided evidence but we are yet to see why the action recommended by BDO wasn’t taken at the time rather than Rangers being liquidated. When you look at the value of the playing squad and facilities at the time there is certainly a case to be made for it being an event that could have been avoided – and those responsible being held to account.
