Rangers fans were handed a surprise boost when the team news was released for the Scottish Premiership fixture against Ross County on Sunday.

Speaking to Rangers TV in the lead up to the fixture, first team coach Michael Beale had hinted at both Scott Wright and Ianis Hagi being missing for the next couple of games, however, the Romanian international was a welcome sight in the line-up.

“At this moment we are assessing one or two players who maybe won’t be available for the next couple unfortunately, but that’s the benefit of a strong squad that other players will come in and show their worth.”

Hagi has been in good form this season, playing in both midfield and the forward line, his versatility was key in overcoming Alashkert at Ibrox as he dropped back into a deeper role and drove the team on to victory, he is now displaying a level of maturity way beyond his 22 years.

Who scored Rangers first ever goal under Steven Gerrard in EL qualification?

With Ryan Jack and Fashion Sakala still out and Kemar Roofe unavailable for the trip to Armenia, the last ting Steven Gerrard would have wanted is to have even more of his first-team squad missing for what is shaping up to be a hugely important week.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Hagi – with 16 Romania caps to his name – starts against Celtic next weekend, Roofe will be available once again and caused them problems last season – it’s not an easy decision to make, but I’m pretty sure it’s one that the gaffer will be delighted to have.
