Rangers could be set to land a major seeding boost in next season’s Champions League qualifiers, if they go on to clinch their 55th league title and the first domestic triumph since May 2011, as expected.

The Gers are on course for the Champions League qualifiers via the ‘Champions Path’ where they would commence the campaign in the third qualifying round.

As reported over the weekend by the Scotsman, Rangers would be ranked seventh of the 12 teams in the third qualifying round draw, meaning an unseeded placing according to current rankings and projections.

However, five of the six clubs who are due to be seeded would commence their campaign the first or second qualifying round.

As it stands, that means just one of Dinamo Zagreb, Ludogorets, Olympiacos, Young Boys or Red Star Belgrade would be required to be eliminated before the third qualifying round in order for Rangers would be seeded.

Not improbable at all in what would be a great benefit to boost the chances of group stage qualification.

Rangers last Champions League group campaign was in 2010-11 during legendary boss Walter Smith’s last season, in which the faced off against Manchester United, Valencia and Bursaspor with a third place finish securing the parachute into the Europa League last 32.
