Rangers the “biggest” test as Hearts come to town

Hearts cruised the Championship last season, and yet, few fans of a maroon persuasion would have been disappointed if Robbie Neilson had left Tynecastle in the summer.

An effective style of play saw the job done at the first attempt, however, it wasn’t much fun to watch, making the turn around even more surprising. There is an entirely different look to the current side that sits close to Rangers at the top of the Premiership table with the return of John Souttar and a few clever additions – particularly Beni Baningime in the middle of the park.

After beating Celtic on day one they will fancy their chances but the Hearts gaffer knows how big a test we will present:

“It’s still early in the season, we’re only eight games in, but we’re both in a good position to go top of the league if we win.

“We know it’s going to be difficult but we’ve got a group here who are looking forward to the game and hopefully go and give it a good shot.

“We’ve had eight big tests so far and come through with flying colours. Now it’s the biggest one so far for us.”

Steven Gerrard also alluded to how well they had recruited in the summer as part of his pre-match press conference, also not missing the opportunity to fire a well aimed shot at the SPFL:

“I am pleased to see Hearts back in the top flight after how they were treated.

“They have recruited well and have a good squad. It is no surprise to me that they have started well but my focus is on us tomorrow and putting some distance between us come 5pm.”

It’s going to be a tight game, one that could very well be similar to the Hibs game, let’s hope that the only talking point is how well we have played to earn the three points.
