Big teams play big games and whilst other, smaller clubs are already on their holidays, Rangers will be hoping to have more joy in their second cup final of the week as we take on Hearts at Hampden.

That we haven’t won the Scottish Cup since 2009 is something that we really need to put right, a 1-0 win over Falkirk more famous for Kris Boyd’s complaints about it being too hot rather than the teams performance.

We’ll have to be significantly better this Saturday against a team that has had a week to prepare and will have key players returning to the starting line-up, the likes of John Souttar and Craig Halkett making their defence significantly stronger although, Liam Boyce can’t possibly be 100% after walking off the park at Tynecastle in clear discomfort.

This could be the last time that we see several members of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers team for a variety of reasons and they will be wanting to put right the wrongs of the last few seasons, never mind of this week and missing out on the Europa League, the mentality will have to be right from the very first whistle.

The temperature being some 20 degrees cooler will also help us to play something more akin to our normal game and I would expect there to be a few changes to the starting XI as well to keep things fresh, especially in the forward areas.

If we want to go into the summer with a positive mindset, we have to win, there is no other option, a better performance than 2009 wouldn’t go a miss as well.
