Glen Kamara could well be Rangers most in-demand player in the summer, especially if he has a productive European Championships with Finland.

The 25-year old – famously signed for just £50,000 – has been in sparkling form for Steven Gerrard and is one of the unsung heroes of the title winning side, he has, however, attracted the attentions of Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League with Leeds United said to be interested in securing his services.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Leeds man, Noel Whelan, reckons that his old team will face a tough task in prising him away from Ibrox, especially if Champions League football is on the cards.

“He’d definitely add something to Leeds United but it depends on whether they’re going to allow him to leave. That’s the problem.

“When you’ve got a Champions League side in Rangers, would a player want to leave or would he want to give it a shot there? It’s difficult because how far they are going to make it in the Champions League we’re not so sure.

“To come and play for a big club like Leeds in the Premier League, those opportunities don’t come around too often.

“He’s an absolutely fantastic player and we know Steven Gerrard wanted him to sign a new contract. That’s not happened as of yet.

We need to strengthen in that department. There is gonna be an abundance of players who Leeds are on the lookout for in the summer.”

Rangers will have to sell players, but the good thing is, it is clearly a harmonious squad with nobody demanding to be sold or let go, it’s amazing the difference that winning trophies and the potential lure of the Champions League can bring.

Kamara is tailor made for Europe’s elite competition and his best performances have frequently come against better opposition, it will always been frustrating watching good players leave but if we can change the habit of a lifetime and make a decent transfer profit, it might just soften the blow.
