Rangers fans will always look at the players and managers, above all else, when things go wrong – Willie Collum tried his hardest to steal the limelight, and yet, Giovanni van Bronckhorst was still the target for much of the blame on social media after yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Hibernian.

The biggest gripe is an obvious one – we aren’t starting games quickly enough and allowing opposition teams to get a foot hold in the game, even if it is just a defensive one.

That we haven’t scored in the first 30 minutes of a competitive fixture since the 11th of May and our 4-1 home win over Ross County says it all. Yes, we’ve had tough fixtures in that run but we’ve also had Livingston, Kilmarnock, St Johnstone and a struggling Hibs side.

What doesn’t help is that Celtic are sweeping teams aside in the first 20-30 minutes then just seeing games out.

When you take the emotion and frustration out of yesterday’s result though, does it really matter if we aren’t playing at 100mph if we are winning games?

Take this table for example. Until John Lundstram was ludicrously sent off, Rangers were in total control, Hibs had offered nothing and we were spending most of our time peppering their box. We should have made more of opportunities but for final decision making.

Personally, I’d be more worried if we were all over the place and not able to dictate the tempo of these games but we are, does it really matter how fast that tempo is?
