When Rangers have struggled this season it has been mainly down to our inability to turn possession into chances and, ultimately, into goals, however, it’s no coincidence that we have also seen a lot of injuries in this area.

Speaking as part of the build-up to today’s league fixture with Livingston at Ibrox where we have the chance to go top of the table, Giovanni van Bronckhorst was quick to mention two players in particular who have been a big miss and who are key to his future plans, as reported by The Rangers Review:

“Of course, it will have an effect. If I go away back you will see Ianis Hagi, he’s one of the most creative players we have. He has a long-term injury, he’s in the final stretch so I’m really happy for him.

“If you see Antonio [Colak] how he came in, he’s one of the players who performed really well but he’s still available and you see Tom [Lawrence]. He’s had a fantastic start of the season and his play will benefit a lot in our structure so that’s something we miss.”

You could add Alex Lowry and Kemar Roofe to this list quite easily, another two players who can play first-time passes and add goals and assists to the team. Gio has tried to set up his team with attack-minded players but, when you look at the wingers, in particular, some of them have been struggling for form – Ryan Kent in particular.

The manager will be delighted to see his forward options improving on an almost weekly basis and having two players like Hagi and Lawrence, who are versatile positionally, two-footed and love to have a shot at goal, returning to the squad will be a massive boost – they can’t come back soon enough.
