According to the Daily Record, Rangers’ latest bid for Oldham defender George Edmundson has once again been rejected as frustration around the deal continues.

The Gers had already made one bid for the young defender and had seen that rejected before going back with an improved bid of £500,000.

The Latics are proving very tough customers despite him handing in a transfer request, though, and it is clear that they are looking for more money than currently on offer.

The likes of Wigan Athletic are also keen on the player, too, and so it would seem to me that they are trying to initiate a bidding war for the player.

They’re within their rights to do so, of course, but if the player wants to come to Ibrox why not just accept an already decent offer instead of making this awkward?

Let’s see if the Gers go back and, indeed, what with.

  • Why are the Rangers even bothering with a player from Oldham anyway? If he’s any good at all, offer them £250,000. Take it or leave it. Our sights should be set higher.

  • Not impressed with any of the signings or attempted signings so far, they just stink of lack of ambition. If anyone was thinking the current squad can stop 9 in a row the Kilmarnock game was something that summed up our season. Beat celtic then very next game against Kilmarnock both times LOST. Anytime they looked to be getting near they’re would be another set back. We need 3 or 4 quality first team starting 11 players that would get in the celtic team or give them competition if in their squad, unless we do it will be the quad treble next year as any the other teams only put rangers out of completions never celtic so it’s up it us.
