January approaches “expected” by Gerrard for Gers stars

|

Nathan Patterson’s career is going to go one of two ways, he is either going to become a club legend at Rangers or he will go on and be one of Scottish football’s finest exports.

We have already seen interest from the Premier League last summer when Everton had a bid rejected for the 19-year old but, with Steven Gerrard moving to Aston Villa, there were always going to be stories linking him to his former gaffer.

The Scotland international isn’t the only player that Gerrard is said to be interested in taking to the Premier League though with a report in 90min.com claiming that as many as four of his key players from his time at Ibrox could be on a list of potential targets:

“Sources close to both clubs have confirmed to 90min that January approaches are expected. Gerrard remains respectful of Rangers and does not want to damage that relationship, but that will not stop him making a move for some of his former charges.

“He believes up to half-a-dozen of his former starting XI are capable of playing in the Premier League. For now, his main targets are highly-rated full-back Nathan Patterson and Finnish international midfielder Glen Kamara.

“Ryan Kent and Borna Barisic are also in his thinking, but Rangers will not allow their first-team squad to be decimated in January.”

If he wants them, he’ll need to pay for them.

We aren’t in the position to choose who we do and don’t sell to unfortunately, if a club makes an offer for one of our players and it matches our valuation then they will probably be away regardless of how bitter a taste it might leave in the mouth.

Kamara is the obvious one and it is only a surprise that the Finland international didn’t attract more attention in the summer given his performances for both club and country over the last couple of seasons.

We saw exactly the same scenario with Brendan Rodgers when he left Celtic to join Leicester City but not a single player followed him to the King Power Arena, Gerrard brought players with him from Liverpool when he joined us so it isn’t out of the question – I just hope we don’t do him any favours though.
