Rangers striker Eduardo Herrera is in talks to have his contract at Ibrox terminated this summer, according to website Football Insider.

The outlet say representatives of the Mexican player, who earns as much as £20,000-a-week, have already held discussions with the negotiators at Rangers about a potential pay-off which would ensure he is off the wage bill ahead of the summer transfer window.

Herrera arrived for a reported £1.5m in the summer of 2017 after the appointment of Pedro Caixinha, but has proven to be a rather expensive flop, making just two starts for the club since then.

He’s spent this season out on loan at two clubs in his homeland but failed to score once for Santos Laguna and has netted just three times at Necaxa.

I think it’s quite clear he won’t be playing for Rangers again, but with his contract not expiring until 2020, the club must take action and ensure he is sent packing for good ahead of the new season.

It seems we are still paying big for the mistakes made under Caixinha, but hopefully we can close this particular chapter.
