Alfredo Morelos has enjoyed a successful international break with Colombia, two 1-0 victories including his first goal for his country, but this hasn’t stopped The Daily Record leading with a story about him missing a chance against Ecuador.

Yes, a whole article based on a striker missing a chance, Morelos has had an exceptional season scoring 22 goals in 26 games, The Record also took a negative approach to reporting his first goal for Colombia by including “finally” in the headline. Morelos has played around 250 minutes of international football, hardly a goal drought.

Transfer speculation has been increasing recently with Morelos linked with Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, Rangers have rubbished these rumours with both Steven Gerrard and new sporting director, Ross Wilson, making assurances that El Bufalo won’t be sold in January.

Does Morelos receive an unfair press in Scotland?

Rangers fans reacted in disbelief to the article on Twitter, questioning the motives of the newspaper.

The fans were quick to pick up on the double standards in The Record’s reporting, as one fan pointed out, Morelos brought an excellent save from the keeper, I’m sure Scotland’s top goalscorer won’t be losing any sleep over the matter though.
