Spanish side Real Betis will not be making a £20m move for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos anytime soon, according to The Daily Record, despite reports in Spain suggesting otherwise.

It was reported during the week that the Colombian had emerged as a transfer target for the La Liga side, worrying fans that they might be on the verge of saying goodbye to the popular striker.

However, sources at the Spanish club have told The Record that no such plans are in place with manager Quique Setien yet to learn of his transfer budget ahead of next season.

We can at least breathe a sigh of relief on the Morelos exit front for now, although it’s unlikely to be the last time the 22-year-old is linked with a move away from Glasgow this summer.

His 29 goals have taken Scottish football by storm throughout 2018/19 and likely put him on the radar of plenty of cash rich clubs in the top leagues on the continent.

Still, we have him contracted at Ibrox until 2023 and hold all the cards when it comes to his departure.

If he does go in the upcoming transfer window then we will be handsomely rewarded.

  • I’d be happy to let him go for 20 million he’s good but also a liability with that money Rangers could greatly improve the squad including buying Ryan kent which is a must if we want to win the league next season

  • Why would any club pay £20million for a player who is likely to spend a quarter of the season under suspension? We’d be lucky to be offered £3million if indeed we get an offer at all.

  • To answer your question directly, I am not in the least worried about Morelos leaving anytime. I will also save my “sigh of relief” for a later date. He is now at best, a divisive figure and my read is that will only get worse.

  • Tbh the red card against the manky mob turned me his goals have been brilliant but overshadowed by the stupid red cards that have cost us if a 20mil offer came in ad bite there hand off for if there’s no offer let’s hope he sorts out his temper cause he could be a legend for this club next season when wee stop them getting the 9 FTP!!!

  • If he carnt sort his hot head out better get rid he costing us to many games with his silly red cards hope he learns now
