Rangers manager Graeme Murty has said the side face a ‘big challenge’ when we take to the pitch against Falkirk this weekend.

Rangers host Falkirk at Ibrox for the Scottish Cup quarter final tie on Sunday and having been largely pleased with performances and definitely results in recent times, Murty is obviously focused on seeing that continue as we hopefully put our boots one step closer to silverware.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media on Friday to discuss the upcoming game, Murty was clear it would be a test and nobody could underestimate Paul Hartley’s side.

‘It`s a big challenge for us as we know teams coming to Ibrox are not necessarily going to be as open or as expressive as they may be at home. But we have to go and embrace the challenge and take it as a positive that we can go and set down another marker on the journey we are on. We are in a good way at the moment and the guys are very positive. They are hungry for the next challenge, and once again, they want to go and win the game, get through to the next round and go and finish this season on a high. I`ve just said to them, we just have to go and win the next game, and they are really enjoying their football at the minute.’

With victory over St Johnstone in midweek, Murty was certainly boosted by the general attitude following the match from the players.

‘We are moving towards where we want to be – we are not there yet and we can still improve. I think the best sign for me was the guys having a conversation at St Johnstone about the second half. They weren`t happy with elements or what we attempted to do after going four-up. They thought they had slackened off a little too much, and that`s really positive for me as a manager as I look at that as a good indicator of where this group is and where they understand they could get to. As I keep on saying though, we are not there yet. We still have improvements to make, but the hunger and the positivity in the group to go and make those adjustments is a really positive thing.’

Murty also had word of praise for the ground staff at the training centre for ensuring the players could return to training on Friday given the weather conditions being experienced around the country.

‘I think the whole country struggled yesterday, but we took advice from our security consultants to make sure the guys would be safe coming in today as we obviously didn`t want to put anyone at risk. But, our groundstaff have worked wonders to get us on grass today, so we have had a good training session today and a bit of a blow-out for the lads as they have had two days off. But, they were feisty and hungry and very, very bright today. So we thank our groundstaff for the efforts they put in as it wasn`t easy, but we are one of the few teams in the country that would be on grass today, and we really appreciate the efforts that they have made for us. The guys put in a good session today and I really enjoyed it.’
