It might have gone unnoticed but, we actually have another couple of league games to go before what could be a very memorable few days next week.

First up is Ross County which could be the last time we see a few familiar faces lining up for the club at Ibrox, new contracts for Leon Balogun, Steven Davis and Allan McGregor are unlikely with several key players also facing the very real prospect of being sold in the summer should suitable bids come in for them.

What this means though, and as confirmed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst at the weekend, is that we will get to see more game time for the next batch of Rangers stars, in particular, Leon King, Charlie McCann and Alex Lowry. King started against Dundee United and there is no reason why he shouldn’t keep his place with his academy team-mates joining him this time.

How Giovanni van Bronckhorst decides to rotate his squad is going to be interesting in that we may see closer to the Europa League final XI today with Hearts at Tynecastle being used to give them a rest, players like Connor Goldson and James Tavernier should be wrapped up in cotton wool given their importance to the team even though there are no doubts about their physical ability to cope with the work load.

Having five substitutes is a massive bonus for the manager in that he will have the best of both worlds, keep his starters ticking over whilst also giving academy and fringe players minutes too, the fact that neither game is “must win” is an almost welcome bonus but only hindsight will confirm this.

Try to relax, enjoy the next two games and hope that we come through unscathed, then the nerves will really start to kick in.
