‘Good times never seemed so good!’

Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline was very appropriate as the song reverberated around the away dressing room in Eindhoven late on Tuesday night as a jubilant Rangers squad and staff celebrated Champions League qualification.

Just look at the scenes, the joy, the emotion – this is what it’s all about and the feeling is shared by every genuine Rangers supporter.

Gio van Bronckhorst’s men got exactly what they deserved after a hard fought victory at the Philips Stadium.

Antonio Colak proved to be the match winner, having tapped home from Malik Tillman’s clever work to pickpocket the PSV defence.

Tom Lawrence hit the bar with a great individual effort, shortly before the goal in the second half as Rangers proved to have enough about them to get the job done.

A bit of luck was also carried thankfully as the hosts spurned two great chances in the first half, from Cody Gakpo and Luuk de Jong.

Overall, it was another very good game, a close contest between two teams on a similar level but the difference was that Rangers took their chance when it came along. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team were a lesser threat when de Jong did not come out for the second half due to injury, but they still had chances.

PSV have some better individuals but Rangers proved to be the better team unit over the two legs and now Champions League group stage football will return to Ibrox for the first time since 2010.

‘So good, so good!’
